Reheating tamales is easy! Here’s how to do it.

In the oven:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F

  2. Place the frozen tamales in an oven-safe baking dish.

  3. Fill the dish a third full with water.

  4. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.

  5. Place the dish in the oven.

  6. Allow the frozen tamales to cook for 1 hour and 40-50 minutes.

If cooking defrosted tamales, allow to cook for 45-60 minutes.

If cooking sweet mini tamales from frozen, allow to cook for 45-60 minutes.

If cooking thawed sweet mini tamales, allow to cook for 30-45 minutes.

  1. Remove the dish with tamales from the oven.

  2. Remove the aluminum foil and the tamales are ready to serve.

On the stovetop:

  1. Place the frozen tamales in a steamer. They should be snug but not tight, as the tamales will expand when heated.

  2. Pour water into the steamer. Use the amount of water suggested in your steamer operating instructions. Bring water to a boil.

  3. Put a towel over tamales so it will absorb the condensation of water on the top of the steamer and prevent it from dripping on tamales.

  4. Place a lid on the steamer.

  5. Cook the tamales on medium heat for 1 hour and 40-50 minutes.

If cooking defrosted tamales, allow to cook for 45-60 minutes.

If cooking sweet mini tamales from frozen, allow to cook for 45-60 minutes.

If cooking thawed sweet mini tamales, allow to cook for 30-45 minutes.

  1. Turn off heat and remove tamales using metal tongs. The tamales are ready to serve.

Microwave: (reheating already cooked and thawed tamal only)

  1. Place tamal in a dish where you can add a little bit of water.

  2. Place tamal on the dish and cover completely with damp paper or cloth towel.

  3. Cook on high for 2-3 minutes depending on the microwave.

  4. Unwrap and enjoy!
